Job Description

MB Faber Ltd is part of the MB Aerospace Holdings Group, which has revenues of circa £25m and employs over 200 personnel across 3 UK sites.  MB Faber is focused on providing design and manufactured solutions to the global aerospace market in the area of tooling and ground support equipment.

Due to our rapid increase in growth MB Faber Ltd is looking for an experienced and highly capable, Supply Development Engineer to develop and strengthen strategic relationships within our global supplier base and drive change in our expanding business. This role reports into the Supply Chain Manager and for the right candidate and has the potential to develop into a Senior Management position.

The business has traditionally been a specialised supplier of aerospace design capability, although is experiencing significant growth for providing design and manufactured solutions with greater emphasis on project management and supply chain management to an increasing customer base. Experience of low cost sourcing would also be most advantageous.

The business is based in Leyland, Lancashire.  The continued growth demands ever-stronger supply chain management as well as customer facing business development.  The successful candidate will join a well-established team, helping to service a global client base including Airbus, BAE Systems and Rolls-Royce and have experience of the manufacture of tooling, handling and ground support equipment.

Responsibilities Include

Review key supplier agreements and ensure service level agreements are being met in connection to:

- On time delivery
- Quality
- Cost

  • Actively meet existing suppliers, bring on board new suppliers, build relationships and ensure the business is receiving best service;
  • Identify strategic areas of improvement, develop solutions and implement change within the Company;
  • Negotiate contract terms & conditions;
  • Review existing contracts and implement changes where necessary.
  • Initiate best practice in terms of service and quality.
  • Act as an advisor to the design team to ensure best practice is met at all times.
  • Strong Negotiating Skills, develop supply chain partnerships both in the UK and overseas, supplier selection, quotation gathering, preparation and presentation of supply responses, management of the supply chain through the delivery stages


Skills Required

  • Educated with a manufacturing background from apprentice to skilled tradesmen or a Graduate with experience in an engineering environment.;
  • Proven track record in supplier development within a robust supply chain.
  • Ability to read technical drawings, plan project scope, quote component manufacture, assembly and installation;
  • Diplomatic, flexible and conscientious with the ability to think outside the box.
  • The ability to influence, build relationships and work in a fast paced environment.
  • This role will also involve co-ordination of the supply resource, commercial negotiation with suppliers and clients, and responsibility to ensure final project deliverable meet customer along with business expectations. A key element of the supply development engineer task is to ensure a link between the design and manufacture activities are maintained.
